Women and Men are Mentally EQUAL

Men and women are considered equal on the scale of mental strength. However, due to some prejudice that stems from several centuries ago, back when women where barely acknowledged as human beings, discrimination is still present today. Women are underestimated at best, and completely disregarded at worst. This is the reason why they are not as easily accepted as men are, and that men sometimes get all the credit despite the fact that a woman colleague may have contributed just as much, if not more, than they did.

A notable example would be how women are constantly underrepresented in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) fields. The occupation of scientists or engineers still belong to men, and while women had escaped the misconception that their skills are limited to changing Junior's diaper and massaging their husbands' calloused feet, they are still considered inferior. True, some women are not as mentally capable as some men in some aspects. However, it goes both ways. A woman can be smarter than a man, and vice-versa. It has does not really have anything to do with gender, just experience and the intellect that has accumulated over the years.

  1. I completely agree. Even though our section names involve the names of female mathematicians or scientists, I don't know anything about most of them. Also, I found an article about history ignoring the contributions of female scientists: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2013/13/130519-women-scientists-overlooked-dna-history-science/ I believe that this generation will produce women who do well in their professions, whether STEM or not, and they will empower the ones of the future generations as well.

  2. This is very nice. In the following years, women will also stand. Women will also be heard. Men are not the only ones who contribute to this world but also females!

  3. This post shows that feminism is needed. People of today think this isn't a problem or that it doesn't exist but it does and is ignored (especially men). I think the reason why people don't support this cause is because they think it is a form of misandry and is a competition of genders. Feminism isn't about being better than the other gender; rather, it is about achieving equal rights. I also I like how this post ended that both genders are equal.
